Little kids talking about stuff in songs is way more effective / way less annoyingly precious when it’s not scripted. 

Proof:

“A Ghost Story” by Atlas Sound— somewhat nonsensical, utterly charming.

“Aminals” by Baths — sweet, spontaneous musings re: animals. Does not get old.

“Raconte-Moi Une Histoire” by M83 — clearly written by an adult and thus sort of contrived and more grating every time you listen to it, right?
